Sub-Zero

McAninch partnered with CD Smith Construction on the 600,000 SF Sub-Zero manufacturing facility in Cedar Rapids, IA in 2023. Sub-Zero is well known for superior quality refrigeration products and has been around since 1945. We carried the foundation package and site concrete in addition to our earthwork and utilities on this build. Our scope for this project included grading, site utilities, structural footings, and building slab on grade with Absolute Group.

• 48-acre site

• 613,700 SF of buildings

• 10,850 CY of Topsoil Stripping

• 130,000 CY of Cut/Fill

• 6,060 LF of Water Main

• 1,665 LF of Sanitary Sewer

• 8,252 LF of Storm Sewer

Our partnership with our aggregate supplier, Wendling Quarries, was an important piece to this project’s success as they provided an onsite borrow location for the necessary fill material. Once this warehouse is complete in the spring of 2025, it will add 200+ jobs to the Cedar Rapids area!
