Laborer
McAninch Corporation works primarily in or around the Des Moines metro area. There may be times when a laborer will be assigned to jobs across the state or neighboring states. As a laborer for McAninch you can play a key role in the successful completion of projects, such as:
- Highways
- Bridges
- Tunnels
- Residential & Commercial developments
- Commercial sanitary sewer
- Storm sewer
- Watermain
Laborers at McAninch perform a variety of important duties that require strength, dexterity, and alertness. All laborers must do a considerable amount of the following, but are not limited to:
- Installing & maneuvering concrete pipe
- Vibrating concrete
- Shoveling rock, dirt or sand
- Lifting / carrying up to 75 lbs.
- Removing demolished materials
- Kneeling
- Balancing
- Cleaning tracks of heavy equipment
- Climbing in and out of excavations either using earthen steps or a ladder. Excavations could be 20 feet deep or greater.
Other duties consist of working with various tools, including power tools run by gasoline, electricity, and compressed air such as:
- 35 lb gasoline powered saws
- 10 lb sledgehammers
- Pumps
- Compressors
- Lasers
- Vibrators
Laborers are on their feet most of the day spending nearly 100% of their time outdoors in various weather conditions. Due to the varied conditions laborers must know the hazards and safety requirements of each job.
